"All The Colors Of The Sky" Badge Bugged

The new badge “All The Colors Of The Sky” doesn’t seem to be correctly registering odd moa variants correctly. Despite having hatched many of the same moa whilst in the same chunk and only being 9-12 blocks away, none of them counted.

I’m willing to collect more and test if standing next to them will work but if being only 10 blocks away in the same chunk is too far it would be nice if it was better explained.
