Bug with gravitite armor on armor stand

Hello, a friend of mine crafted the entire gravitite armor and put it on display on an armor stand. When I tried to take it to try it on, I destroyed the armor stand but instead of dropping the whole armor, it dropped only the armor stand and the armor completely disappeared.
