Cannot place pattos

Im blaxe_123 i was making a farm and wanted to plant the pattatos but i couldnt place patatos on certain blocks i tried replacing the block didnt work nothing worked but whats extra weird that on some of the blocks i could place them so its like certain blocks were already occupied but they weren't

because i didnt see anything on them

    Besides vanilla crops needing to be placed on farmland (using a hoe to make it) you need to be by water and have high light levels, if it's too dark they'll just not work.
    Otherwise go into detail or show a image of where you're trying to farm.

    My guy... You can only plant potatoes on farmland (NOT planter boxes, just normal vanilla farmland). This is not a bug, its part of vanilla Minecraft. :/
