Recently I was trying to fish arctic biomes in order to replace a few of the arctic fish in my river, and when fishing in a “Frosted Taiga” biome, I noticed that I was only catching fish that were within the “Lush” biome pool, including lush exclusive fish such as bluegill and catfish. I’m almost certain Frosted Taiga is meant to be an arctic biome, but given it’s a newer biome that was added after the fishing update, it may have not had fishing biome data added and thus defaulted to the lush fishing pool.
I then attempted to fish in the “Glen” biome (another new biome added), which I’m fairly certain is meant to be a boreal biome, and I had the same result— only catching lush biome fish and no boreal exclusives.
It’s likely that the new biomes never had their fishing biome added— all existing biomes seem to have the appropriate biome fish in them, so it seems to be an issue isolated to the new biomes and not with fishing as a whole.
If this is the case, then the new biomes likely need to be tweaked so they’re fully classified as whatever biome region they are meant to be, expanding to not just fishing but also songbird spawns (I can’t recall seeing any other songbird types outside of sparrows in the new biomes). This may have been a case where this was overlooked when the biomes were added, and it’s likely a simple fix.
