Naming a wolf wearing armor doesn't work

If a wolf is wearing armor and you try to name tag it, it eats the nametag and doesn't actually name the dog... I assume this has something to do with the invisible armor stand used for the wolf armor having an overlapping hitbox, I think it names the armor stand instead of the wolf and the name just doesn't show.
