apples are not only crops but also a vanilla item, and they can be used to fed/breed mobs so why not do the same with other crops?
Lettuce:
- could be used to fed/breed turtles, this would have a small chance to make the turtle shed a scute
- could breed rabbits
Eggplants:
- could breed or attract rats
