Make timber work on the old variant of trees

I have an old realm like a lot of people and with that I have dark oak trees. the old dark oak trees have oak leaves instead of dark oak leaves meaning that timber is useless on them. I have a video of what I mean and although there is a solution, I cant afford to place dark oak tress on the hundreds of trees I have.
