Origin Isle Refresh

I just wanted to type some thoughts about the Origin Isle Refresh that you all are working on, and some things that I think would make it easier for new players and existing players.

  1. Main Content Front And Centered

What I mean by this is that I think certain aspects of Origin Isles should be as close to spawn as possible. Right now, you got the Community Center, Nova’s Lab, the Genie, The Pet Shop, Fracture Forge, and the Library (as well as the event trader). However, other parts of spawn that also give unique and fun gameplay, such as FabRick’s, the Museum, Jacko, Ruby Exchange, Badger, Silo Square, and the Fish Stall. In my opinion, I think these areas of Origin Realms should be easier for new and existing players to access by moving them to the front of spawn. I think that the Community Center, Nova’s Lab, the Pet Shop, and the Library shouldn’t really be the first things that players see when they join the server or visit spawn, since they don’t have anything special about them (or no longer have anything special about them). This is basically a nice QoL change I would make for spawn. The gameplay should be the first thing we can see and interact with, so that we become more engaged overall.

  2. Cosmetics and Paid Content

I very much agree that paid content should also be front and centered as well. I think it’s pretty obvious why, since these aspects are what help Origin Realms continue to operate as both an experience and a business. I would like Cosmo’s Shop, Jester’s Stall, and the Genie to be grouped together so that players are able to access, and interact with these features without having to make the hassle of walking halfway through spawn to change cosmetics or equip gestures. I also think that all (not seasonal) crates should be available to purchase at all times. It is very annoying having to wait to purchase the crate that you want when it’s out of rotation, and there isn’t really a clear way to know when it’s coming back. I know that the system saves the previous and next cycle, but it still feels annoying and clunky.

  3. BIG SHOPS

Some of the current stores in Origin Isles are outdated with the amount of content that they can introduce and give to players. My biggest example is FabRick Furniture. When Origin Realms first opened in beta, there was only one shop rotation for the first couple of months that offered the same furniture. This was change months later, but players weren’t able to get any of the furniture that was in the first rotation. In 0.14.0, Origin Realms added I think 10 different rotations that would cycle every in-game morning. While this system worked back then, it, in my opinion, doesn’t work now. They’re even more rotations now, and it feels very annoying having to wait for a specific furniture piece that you don’t even know will be coming in the next rotation the following in-game morning. My solution is to make FabRick bigger. I think having, in the best way I can describe it, as an IKEA showcase floor, would be a lot better for players to find and purchase furniture and also brainstorm ideas that they can utilize the furniture for in their builds. Also, this was an idea I had, but I think a cool way to engage with the community is to have contests to make different showcase floors for furniture that can rotate out and help display different ways of using furniture in Origin Realms! Other buildings that I think deserve more attention are Fracture Forge, Badger’s Streak and Furniture, and the Fishing Stall.

  4. Some smaller things.

    1. An easy way for players to view the changelog without having to use an outside source.

      1. Basically a display board.

    2. More interactions

      1. I know this is being worked on right now, but it would be cool to have some minigames in spawn too. Sort of like the Arcade.

These are what I personally think deserves the most attention for the Origin Isle Refresh. I hope that the team considers these points that I mentioned here while building the new spawn. From the sneak peeks on Discord, it does look like that important buildings are being moved to the front of spawn while others are either being moved away or deleted. I’m not sure how far this Refresh is in development, but I hope that the team is still able to cover at least of couple of these points.
