This suggestion groups changes that would change how Blighted Boss Arenas would work. The main objective for these are quality of life changes, despite also focusing on giving Blighted Bosses the weight they deserve in Open Worlds.
Defeated enemies inside arenas don’t drop loot.
The reason is simple. Enemies such as Wrangler or Pyrothenic Bandits in Blighted Badlands have the most complementary loot. This can affect, while battling in areas, to players removing these items from their inventory and, with this, loosing their time. Additionally, almost no players keep these items, so their drop removal is justifiable.
This means:
XP will still be obtainable from both boss-minion enemies and the boss.
Affects mob drops, not boss loot. This doesn’t mean the loot is gone!
Hidden balloons during arena fights.
Similar reason to the previous one. It’s a distraction. This is already mentioned in another suggestion of mine, currently marked as pending. If possible, their temporal
disappearance while fighting cleans out more of the screen while fighting.
This means your balloon will only be hidden in the arena, and recovered on leave.
The chronometer pauses when the Blighted Boss is not active.
It’s a sub-suggestion that features speed running. For better times, and fomenting the activity previously mentioned, the 25–35 seconds of animations of Blighted Bosses limit the time. It’s not something I find super necessary, but would be a change.
I’d like to share some other thoughts on a different aspect of Blighted Bosses, it’s importance in weight. As these may probably have to go in a separate suggestion, I’ll make them a thing of minor importance and mark it as conceptual and not a “would like to have”.
The fact that the Strata Golem is now the Ashen Golem gives the title to the first topic. For future Blighted Bosses, having…
Mini Blighted Bosses in each Blighted Biome.
…that would have a similar paper to the Ashen Golem in other, upcoming or sketch-made, blighted biomes. This way, each blighted biome would feature an enemy of major importance.
An example for this could be for Blighted Depths/Lush Cave: the Blighted Hands, directly inspired to the Gloom Hands from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, would feature the unique, grabbing ability, and highly increase the weight The Blight has in Open Worlds. Additionally, the ability to attach to walls or ceiling would star this new mob and be a fear to everyone.
This means:
Each blighted biome will have a main boss, mini boss and other mobs.
Increases creative capacity, being able to showcase other strong-bound themes, such as the types of fear, not only death (Marauder’s Stallion) and craziness (Marauder itself).
Non-combat starred blighted bosses.
With the many features Minecraft has, puzzle bosses that don’t primarily focus on combat would attract other types of players to fight the blight by using their primarily reason to play Minecraft.
This means:
Some bosses would require less combat skill, instead focusing on other skills (building, parkour, puzzle-solving) and/or interacting with the arena.
This would attract more players to Origin Realms, and with it, increase the members count.
Last but not least, the blight was and it is awesome. Added or not, that’s not a problem. Thanks to the team for bringing it to reality.
Thank you!
