snowy grass is replaced by snowy podzol

I don’t understand why would you make this change, it wasn’t like this before, but when you place a snow layer on a grass block, the grass block turns into a snowy podzol block for no reason. If you remove the snow layer the block comes back to being a grass block. The reason it bothers me, it’s because it ruins my texture pack that I always play with. I would be happy with either a fix or an explanation for the change.
